when officers responded Friday

If you were near North 24th and Wirt streets Friday afternoon, here's what we know. Omaha police said officers responded to a shooting call near 25th and Wirt around 4 p.m. KETV reported that one officer fired a weapon and one person was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

KMTV reports the scene was at North 24th and Wirt. Officers heard shots and saw several people gathered around two vehicles, plus a man shooting a firearm outside one group. One officer fired when they confronted him. He was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, and it's unclear whether it came from the officer or earlier gunfire. Several people in one vehicle fled, and the chase ended in a crash at 24th and Redick. Nobody in the crash was hurt, and several people were taken into custody.

  • Status: the investigation is ongoing, Omaha police say
  • Traffic: police warned of restrictions near the scene

Lincoln police finish the no-bid probe, and the AG's office says Pillen's office is clear

The Attorney General's office says the governor's office was “not implicated in any criminal wrongdoing.” Lincoln police briefed Hilgers' office Oct. 28 and agreed to submit the complete file, which the AG's office will now review.

  • Review: the AG's office says it will evaluate the evidence
  • Contract: one year, awarded to Global Sustainability Developers
