ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On July 24, 1930, the Big Dipper roller coaster at Krug Park, now known as Gallagher Park in Benson, crashed when a bolt came loose, killing four and injuring 17 and leading the city to ban roller coasters. WOWT

- ➤ Nebraska Sen. Deb Fischer announced Thursday that she advanced over $18 million in funding for critical water infrastructure projects—this package will upgrade the McCook water treatment plant, improve the Santee Sioux Tribe’s water source, and repair sewer systems in other communities. The funds, part of the 2026 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, will support projects in areas including Greeley, Gothenburg, Farwell, Genoa, Shelby, Valparaiso, and Ong.
