  • The Pie Fairy now operates out of Barnato's kitchen at 225 North 170th Street in Village Pointe and offers pies and sweets for pickup or delivery after advance notice via social media. CRIME NEWS

  • The Douglas County Sheriff's Office released more evidence on the fatal deputy-involved shooting that killed 19-year-old Janidi Ibrahim at 48th and Pratt in Omaha last week—body camera footage and photos show that Sgt. Ronk was clearly identified as a law enforcement officer while Ibrahim had a loaded, stolen handgun.  KFAB
  • York County officials arrested 36-year-old Shantell Perkins on Thursday and charged her with felony possession of a controlled substance, using a minor for drug deliveries, and child abuse — she forced her daughter to deliver Xanax and morphine on over 50 trips — and removed her children from her custody as her first court hearing is set for today.  WOWT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On May 27, the Westside Community Schools Board approved a renovation budget for Westbrook Elementary, awarded a contract to Boyd Jones Construction for work over the next four summers, raised wages for staff groups, and extended Superintendent Mike Lucas’s contract through June 2028 — Lucas now earns $270,232.85 a year.  Flatwater Free Press

  • The Metro Area Planning Agency is inviting residents in Omaha and Council Bluffs to submit comments on its six-year Transportation Improvement Plan that guides highway maintenance, bike trails and transit projects—comments must be received by Friday, June 20 at 4:30 p.m. via email or mail to the agency.  KETV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Nebraska health officials confirmed the state's first measles case in Sheridan County from a vaccinated child with mild symptoms and no recent out-of-state travel, suggesting community spread. Officials said exposure occurred at Family Dollar in Rushville on May 17 from 9 a.m. to noon and at the Gordon Clinic in Gordon on May 21 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.—those without confirmed immunity should stay home for 21 days after exposure.  KETV
