  • Omaha charity Goodfellows uses donations from the Omaha World-Herald to give emergency housing and utility help so families avoid eviction — the group aids those in crisis.  Omaha World-Herald
  • Ollie the Trolley gave Omaha neighbors a preview of the upcoming streetcar route—stopping at local businesses like Zen Coffee and The Next Chapter Book Store—and showed officials and business leaders working to support shops hit by construction; the trolley will run again next weekend.  3 News Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 'Midwest Fest' is a local marketplace event turned festival that brought the holiday spirit downtown Omaha and attracted shoppers looking for seasonal items like candles and Santa shirts. EDUCATION NEWS

  • In Nebraska, more than 16,000 students were registered in exempt schools like homeschooling during the 2024-25 school year, according to state education data that has tracked a steady rise since 1985—marking a significant jump during the pandemic. Kathryn Dillow from the Nebraska Homeschool Network said many families are choosing homeschooling to find better learning options tailored to their children’s needs.  KETV

  • After a snowstorm, the City of Omaha ended snow removal operations and told property owners to clear their sidewalks by 12 a.m. today.  WOWT
  • On Sunday, Omaha Mayor Ewing joined local small businesses for Small Business Sunday as a snowstorm forced the city to reschedule the Holiday Lights Festival to take place tonight. The city also required property owners to clear sidewalks by 12 a.m. today — a move aimed at ensuring public safety during storm recovery.  WOWT
  • Metro Transit announced Sunday that 10 routes will shift to Snow Option B and 3 will move to Snow Option A today to manage slick roads—travelers are urged to check Metro’s website for updated schedules.  WOWT

SPORTS NEWS

  • Yesterday, Creighton held an NCAA tournament press conference with MB Reinhardt, OH Martin, and HC Rosen while coach Greg McDermott announced that forward Jackson McAndrew would miss the season with a foot injury+ Omaha was scheduled to face LSU following a recent win, and Nebraska and Creighton players were selected in the Major League Volleyball draft.  WOWT
  • After a perfect season, Nebraska Huskers were named the No. 1 overall seed for the NCAA volleyball tournament and will play Long Island University at the Devany Center on Dec. 5th at 7 p.m. Creighton, who won the Big East title, earned the No. 3 seed and will face Northern Colorado at the D.J. Sokol Arena on Dec. 4th at 7 p.m.  KETV
  • The Nebraska Huskers overcame a sluggish start to win against USC Upstate despite missing Connor Essegian — they showed determination as they secured a key victory.  WOWT
  • The Nebraska volleyball team ended its regular season 30-0 by sweeping Ohio State and keeping an undefeated record. The win boosts their postseason hopes+they now prepare for upcoming matches.  WOWT
  • Creighton volleyball, in head coach Brian Rosen’s first season, extended its streak to 14 straight NCAA Tournament appearances since 2012 and earned the No. 3 seed in the Lexington Regional—will host Northern Colorado on Dec. 4 at D.J. Sokol Arena.  WOWT
