- ➤ Tyson Foods announced it will close its Lexington beef plant that employs more than 3200 workers and convert its Amarillo facility to full capacity while Iowa health officials reported the season’s first flu death and urged vaccinations amid low flu activity, and a fleet management firm named Iowa’s I-80 as the most hazardous winter route with a 625% crash increase. Union Omaha reached an agreement with city officials to build a 114-million-dollar professional soccer stadium near downtown that will break ground next year and open in 2028—Nebraska volleyball remains unbeaten after sweeping Indiana and Creighton’s Jackson McAndrew will miss the rest of the season with a foot injury. - ➤ Nebraska Methodist College nurses and students held a continued education workshop on Friday to begin writing picture books that simplify health topics for children and adults—these books will soon be available digitally in nearly 50 languages and in print for community members by the end of the year. - ➤ The City of Omaha is asking residents to help name its snow plow fleet for the upcoming winter season by voting on the Public Works website until December 5. Seven naming options, including 'Big Red Sled' + 'Plowmaha', are available with the winning names to be revealed on December 5. WOWT
