  • A family-owned Chicago-style pizzeria that has served Omaha for 12 years announced on Facebook it will close on Dec 6—supporters are invited to stop by or order takeout during the last weeks.  KETV
  • Adam Straight has been named MECA’s new CEO as Omaha works to attract bigger conventions and meetings, succeeding Roger Dixon (who will retire at the end of the year after 25 years of service).  Omaha World-Herald
  • Copal Mexican Cuisine—located at 3623 North 129th Street—will close on November 23, moving up its planned November 30 shutdown as the restaurant adjusts its schedule.  Grow Omaha

CULTURE NEWS

  • BLUEBARN Theatre starts its holiday mash-up show, Every Christmas Story Ever Told And Then Some!, today in Omaha. Three actors mix parts of Christmas Carol, The Grinch and Die Hard—fusing classic and modern holiday tales—and the final three shows are on sale for $115.  KETV
  • Crews decorated the Durham Museum’s giant Christmas tree last Wednesday with oversized ornaments and lights, a process that took the entire day. Staff started hanging lights on Tuesday and moved on to placing the three-foot ornaments Wednesday morning—efforts that celebrate 25 years of annual tree decorating.  KETV
  • The award-winning musical 'The Wiz' will play through November 23 at Omaha’s Orpheum Theater — where stars Kyla Jade and Elijah Ahmad Lewis discussed the show's powerful performances and brilliant choreography in an interview with KETV's Quanecia Fraser — inviting local audiences to follow the yellow brick road with this revamped classic.  KETV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • OPPD will propose a rate increase in 2026 — industrial customers will face the biggest hike while residential customers see a 6% rise. A customer with an average $115 bill will pay about $7 more a month.  Omaha World-Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Omaha Tribe of Nebraska’s Cannabis Commission passed its new rules on medical marijuana yesterday, moving the process forward to application review. The rules require that applicants submit detailed financial and site information, and the commission plans to publish a draft ahead of next month’s meeting.  WOWT
  • Drivers in Nebraska have received more citations under the updated move-over law—designed to protect pedestrians, construction crews, cyclists and first responders. The law requires drivers to switch lanes or slow down when they approach stopped vehicles and vulnerable road users.  WOWT
  • Yesterday, Nebraska Rep. Don Bacon honored KETV anchor Rob McCartney on the House floor for his 41-year career and steady presence during tough times—Bacon said McCartney will be missed and compared him to the Walter Cronkite of Omaha as he prepares to retire.  KETV
  • Today, the City of Omaha is nearing completion of its $5 million Saddle Creek Road Revitalization Project that began in May to widen sidewalks and add a 10-foot pedestrian and bike path on the north side—benches, trash cans and new lighting have been installed. Crews are still working on the key intersection and will add landscaping and trees in spring—setting the stage for a ribbon cutting celebration then.  KETV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Creighton nursing students completed health screenings for about 150 Holy Cross children to create digital report cards that record hearing and vision test results and help parents track health needs. Children needing follow-up care received low-cost resource information — the project also gave nursing students practical experience in caring for kids.  WOWT

SPORTS NEWS

  • Dayton Raiola, a three-star quarterback and senior at Buford High School in Georgia, has decommitted from Nebraska to reopen his recruitment according to Rivals—he initially committed in September and the early signing period for the Class of 2026 will begin on Dec. 3.  KETV
