  • Creighton University opened a new Child Safety Center—designed to keep children and families safe by offering essential resources and support in a secure environment.  WOWT

  • Clase Código Cocina & Tequila opened last Saturday at 3350 South 143rd Plaza near Oak View Mall. The upscale Mexican restaurant renovated the former Applebee’s and now serves handcrafted cocktails and tableside guacamole, operating from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday and until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.  Grow Omaha

EDUCATION NEWS

  • InsideTrack is working with the Nebraska State College System to launch Reengage Nebraska at Wayne, Chadron and Peru State to help 315,000 former students complete their degrees. The program will contact working adults with families in early 2026 — aiming to fill understaffed jobs such as teaching, nursing and accounting.  WOWT

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Tonight in Omaha, residents may see the northern lights if gaps open in mid and high clouds — the view depends on dry air and a cool drop in temperature after sunset. Forecasts say the conditions could limit the natural light show compared to last night’s impressive display.  KETV
  • Omaha experienced mild weather on Wednesday with highs in the 60s and clear skies that allowed residents to see the northern lights after a G3-level geomagnetic storm—areas away from city lights offered the best view between 6 and 9 p.m. Meteorologist Sean Everson noted that the auroras showed vibrant colors visible to the naked eye.  KETV

  • Boys Town National Research Hospital broke ground Wednesday on a $300 million expansion — the project will upgrade research facilities and improve services for patients.  WOWT
