- ➤ The Burlington Road Neighborhood Association hosted its fourth annual Christmas Cards for the Troops event on Saturday—Omaha Mayor John Ewing Jr. signed cards—and veterans said the cards meant a lot. KETV
- ➤ On Saturday, Bellevue hosted its annual Veterans Day breakfast and parade to honor local veterans. The event lacked a military march because of the government shutdown—retired Chief Master Sergeant Richard Casey led the ceremony. KETV
- ➤ On Saturday, November 8, local veterans attended the third annual North Omaha Veterans Day Luncheon and enjoyed soul food including catfish, ribs, smoked wings, and brisket—organizers said the gathering helped veterans connect with others who shared similar experiences. KETV
- ➤ UNO hosted its first 12-mile MavMarch on Saturday to raise awareness and collect donations for homeless veterans in Omaha. Donations gathered through November will benefit New Visions Homeless Services—helping veterans get shelter, meals, and housing. 3 News Now

- ➤ Students from six local high schools and four professional singers are set to perform at the Omaha Symphony Choral Collaborative today at the Holland Center after months of rehearsals. The event has involved intensive preparation guided by music educators since August & gives young voices a chance to showcase their talent in a cohesive performance. WOWT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Steel beams have gone up on the streetcar vehicle maintenance facility on Lot A south of CHI Health Center Omaha and west of the Kiewit Luminarium—this facility will serve as the hub where streetcar operators begin and end their shifts while housing maintenance bays, offices, storage and training areas. The project is under construction by a private contractor to ensure safe streetcar operations in Omaha. Grow Omaha

- ➤ Holy Name Housing Corporation will begin building Tukey Heights at 36th & Saratoga, a small infill project to offer low-income housing options. The plan will divide the site into 35 lots for single-family detached homes, row houses & duplexes while paving Brown Street and adding a neighborhood park. Grow Omaha

- ➤ Freshman quarterback TJ Lateef led Nebraska to a win over UCLA as he guided the Huskers with strong teamwork on the field. The team is still finalizing their travel plans due to a government shutdown (which may affect air travel). KETV

- ➤ On Saturday in Lincoln, Norris claimed back-to-back Class B state volleyball titles by beating Elkhorn North in four sets—Creighton commit Reagan Wallraf recorded 42 kills to energize his team, while Papio South swept Lincoln North Star in Class A to capture its state title. KETV
