- ➤ Omaha-based Berkshire Hathaway reported a 17% profit rise thanks to a mild hurricane season and strong paper investment gains while preparing for 95-year-old Warren Buffett to step down as CEO in January—Buffett will remain chairman as Vice Chair Greg Abel is set to succeed him. - ➤ Blaha’s, an upscale yet approachable craft beer and cocktail bar, will open by the end of the year in the former Zipline Brewing space at 721 North 14th Street in North Downtown—located next to Ruth Sokolof Theater. - ➤ Eide Bailly will move its Omaha office from 180th & West Dodge Road to the First National Bank of Omaha Business Park (14010 FNB Parkway) as shown by a building permit for renovations. - ➤ At Metropolitan Community College's Fort Omaha Intertribal Powwow, more than 20 vendors gathered for a craft fair in honor of Native American Heritage Month, with food trucks, prize drawings and crafts that showcase local traditions—organizers said the event connects the public with Native American culture. - ➤ A new wellness center named Aviva will be built at 19303 South HWS Cleveland Boulevard near 192nd and West Dodge Expressway in the Avenue One development—its 15,000 square foot two-story building is outlined in a building permit and more details are expected soon. Grow Omaha

- ➤ Jacob Bower gave a one-on-one interview ahead of the USC-Nebraska game as he shared his journey from walk-on to scholarship. The new show 402 Tip-Off began on Oct. 31 with local sports coverage and coach Matt Rhule signed a two-year extension on Oct. 30 that runs through 2032. WOWT
- ➤ USC defeated Nebraska 21-17 in a blackout game at Memorial Stadium—its field painted black—while the Huskers struggled against ranked teams. Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola started but was injured and was replaced by TJ Lateef, and the team will face UCLA on Nov. 8. KETV
- ➤ Omaha Men's Soccer lost 5-1 to UCLA on Saturday as graduate student Theo Klein tied the score in the first half before UCLA scored four unanswered goals—shifting the game's momentum.
