COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Omaha hosted its annual winter coat giveaway on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Omaha Home for Boys—over 3,000 coats in adult, children's and women's sizes were given to families in need.  KETV
  • Dozens attended the Rylan J. Schopen Monster Bash Memorial on Saturday to honor 5-year-old Rylan Schopen, who died 10 years ago after a suspected seizure—money raised went to Collective for Hope to help local children and families access grief counseling. The Schopen family said they plan to make the event annual and will continue accepting donations through Halloween.  KETV

  • The Nebraska Public Service Commission suspended the license of an Omaha grain dealer — after an investigation revealed the firm took in $2 million in grain from over three dozen producers without payment.  Omaha World-Herald

  • Miss Nebraska Audrey Eckert was crowned Miss USA 2025—she now represents the Cornhusker State and will begin her role as a national ambassador amid ongoing pageant events.  KETV
  • A completely blue-lit yard haunt near 137th Avenue and Briggs Circle in Omaha features a glowing-eyed werewolf, a giant bird man, and a former Husker skeleton to thrill visitors this month—visitors are invited to enjoy the display during evening hours as part of KETV’s 31 Days of Halloween events.  KETV

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Greg Wagner from Nebraska Game and Parks said that rainbow trout have been stocked in local parks and lagoons such as Benson Park, Toll Park, and Mahoney State Park for fall fishing. He noted the farm-raised trout acclimate within hours and can be caught easily with basic gear — advice that invites families to enjoy the season.  KETV

  • Coach Rhule said Nebraska won against Northwestern and praised Dylan Raiola for showing his best poise and presence during the game—highlighting strong team plays that helped secure the win.   • Omaha Hockey defeated No. 13 UMass 5-2 at Baxter Arena Saturday night. Myles Hilman scored a tie-breaking goal with 11:31 left and two late goals secured a series split (following a 5-4 loss Friday).  University of Nebraska Omaha
  • The Nebraska School Activities Association released state football playoff brackets on Saturday—first round games for classes A, B, C1, C2, and D6 will take place on Oct. 31. In Class A, Westside will face Bellevue West as teams prepare for the postseason.  KETV
  • Nebraska defeated Northwestern 28-21 at Memorial Stadium to clinch bowl eligibility—quarterback Dylan Raiola completed 16-of-22 passes for 141 yards with a touchdown and Kenneth Williams returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. The Huskers will host USC on November 1st at 6:30 p.m.  KETV
  • Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola said he was proud of his teammates after their win over Northwestern on Oct 25. He added that Kenneth Williams’ kick return touchdown set the best opening script—part of a group effort that helped clinch bowl eligibility.  KETV
