  • Siena Francis House in Omaha marks its 50th anniversary today with a luncheon where former client Derek Leathers is set to speak—this shelter began in 1975 when a priest cashed his life insurance and has grown into a $10 million operation that serves about 3,150 people each year with tiny houses and permanent housing.   • High school students from the Omaha metro gathered at UNO (October 21) for the annual Chuck Hagel Symposium in Public Service to learn about leadership and civic engagement in sessions led by Chancellor Joanne Li and former Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.   • Faculty at UNO are integrating AI tools into classes to give students real hands-on experience and build skills for the modern job market.   • In a recent episode of Consider This, Nebraska health and education experts explained how ADHD affects children, teens, and adults by outlining common symptoms and diagnosis obstacles + offering advice for managing challenges.   • Creighton men's basketball was picked to finish third in the Big East Preseason Coaches’ Poll as coaches announced Tuesday’s rankings at Madison Square Garden.
