- ➤ Omaha officials will hold an open house on the Tranquility Park project next week at the Saddlebrook Community Center—residents will have a chance to share feedback on the plans. The meeting is part of ongoing efforts to shape the park's future. WOWT
- ➤ A Blue Mass was held at Skutt Catholic High School on October 15 to honor first responders as Archbishop Michael McGovern blessed public safety equipment—Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer and Fire Chief Kathy Bossman honored fallen officers and firefighters who died this year. KETV
- ➤ The Omaha Public Power District and Metropolitan Utilities District held a community resource fair Tuesday to help customers manage bills and connect with local agencies — it marked the fourth such event. - ➤ UNO’s new Chess Club met Tuesday night in CPACS 126 to hold a tournament where alumni Micheal Aspinall won as the first champion—President Henningsen and Vice President Mohamed said the club will host lessons for UNO students and elementary schools around Omaha. - ➤ On Oct. 6, the Bellevue Public Schools Board met to honor the district's Best Employer Award and approved over $3.4 million in payments and contract updates. Assistant Superintendent Robert Moore explained the enrollment plan with 1,200 option students and balanced special education transfers—while military support plans at Peter Sarpy Elementary were updated. - ➤ Metro Transit's microtransit service Metro Flex began charging $3 per person each direction starting Wednesday—free rides since its August launch totaled over 7,000 trips and transferring to ADA buses cost $4.25 per trip.
