  • Saturday’s Farnam Fest featured positive reviews for ‘Blackstone Alley’ despite nearby construction on Farnam St, and one person was hospitalized after being hit by a car early Sunday in South Omaha. Other local news covered a Council Bluffs mural celebrating the city’s iron work history, county officials rejecting a proposal to house ICE detainees, a Susan G. Komen walk that raised over $450,000 for cancer work, and Nebraska Volleyball earning its sixth sweep over Washington & drawing regional attention.  WOWT

  • At Farnam Fest this past Saturday, attendees praised the newly updated Blackstone Alley in the parking lot between 39th and 40th Streets for its design improvements that maintained parking during nearby Farnam St. construction. The modified space also increased capacity for local bars such as Scriptown Brewing Company — a change many visitors appreciated.  WOWT
  • Neighbors gathered at Joslyn Castle for the 3rd annual Boo Bazaar where they wore costumes, visited vendor booths, and enjoyed local art and treats. The event also featured a Tim Burton art show—displayed until October 25—to honor the horror icon.  WOWT
  • In La Vista a home near 103rd Avenue and Olive Circle hosts a Halloween yard haunt—featuring displays like a plague doctor, demon baby and Husker Stormtroopers that come alive at night. The haunt is part of the 31 Days of Halloween event that will feature a new home each day in October.  KETV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Yesterday at Werner Park, families joined the Heart Heroes Superhero Heart Run 5K to raise funds and awareness for children with congenital heart disease—registered kids wore capes during a fun run and a butterfly release honored children lost to CHD.  KETV

  • Nebraska volleyball swept Purdue on Sunday—winning 25-23, 25-16, and 25-15 as the Huskers notched their seventh straight set win under standout performances from junior Harper Murray and Andi Jackson. They will take on Michigan State on Friday at 6 p.m. and Michigan next Sunday at 1 p.m.  KETV
  • Omaha Women's Soccer lost 3-1 to South Dakota State on Sunday — the team had a first-half lead before the Jackrabbits scored three unanswered goals. The Mavericks will host Denver at home on Oct. 19 at 12:00 p.m. CT — the game will be available on the Summit League Network.  University of Nebraska Omaha
  • Matt Rhule, a Penn State alum, is seen as a potential candidate for the open football coaching job—while Nebraska's Huskers, ranked in the latest AP poll after a 34-31 win over Maryland, maintained strong momentum in recent games.  WOWT
  • Council Bluffs native Josh Dix—an Iowa transfer who played high school basketball at Abraham Lincoln—is settling into Creighton's team as practices continue ahead of the season.  WOWT
