  • Omaha Steaks broke ground on a new facility today to ensure food safety.  WOWT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Maverick Productions is hosting its annual discounted Vala's Pumpkin Patch ticket sale event this week to offer college students a chance to buy one discounted $15 ticket for the fall attraction — sales took place Monday from 5 to 6 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the MBSC plaza, and sales will continue Wednesday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Mammel Hall Atrium — with each NUID limited to one ticket.  The Gateway

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Nebraska Secretary of State Bob Evnen did not turn over voter data to the DOJ after a lawsuit was filed Monday, citing state law that protects sensitive information—like partial Social Security numbers and driver’s license details. His office consulted with the Attorney General for advice regarding sharing the data.  Omaha World-Herald
  • A town hall was held at the Willa Cather Branch of the Omaha Public Library to discuss passenger rail in Nebraska—local officials and residents shared input on potential service plans.  Omaha World-Herald
  • Mayor John Ewing Jr. held a news conference Monday afternoon—discussing recurring homeless encampments and sharing his plan to manage them—in Omaha.  WOWT

HEALTH NEWS

  • University of Nebraska-Lincoln is calling for more blood donors as it trails Wisconsin in the Big Ten’s We Give Blood drive. Donors from Lincoln and Omaha who gave blood since August 27 can help secure the $1 million grant—an award previously used for student health investments.  WOWT

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today the Huskers will conclude a four-game homestand by hosting Michigan State at 3 p.m. at Memorial Stadium on FS1—Nebraska holds a 9-4 advantage against the Spartans and lost 20-17 when they last met in 2023.  KETV
