- ➤ South Omaha native Francisco 'Paco' Fuentes, who built community ties through his longtime work with the Boys and Girls Club, died on Sept. 1 at 66—he grew membership from 600 to nearly 2,600 and later helped open a Goodwill training center. Omaha World-Herald
- ➤ Today at Benson Park, Mark at the Park partnered with Nebraska Humane Society’s Barks and Rec program to let local residents walk a rescue dog named Chase who is looking for a new home. - ➤ A federal agency said its investigation into the fatal Horizon Biofuels explosion in Fremont in July pointed to a combustible wood dust explosion—a known hazard in wood processing—as the cause that claimed the life of a worker and his two young daughters, while the State Fire Marshal’s Office had ruled it was an accidental dust fire.
