  • On Sept. 8, the Elkhorn Public Schools Board approved a $156.9 million budget and set the 2025-26 tax levy at .95126 as rising property values are expected to generate $82.6 million in tax revenue. A parent raised safety issues at Stone Pointe Elementary when unsecured doors and nonfunctional cameras were observed—officials said they are addressing the construction issues with hourly patrols and noted that Iron Bluff Elementary has completed its playground and sidewalk.  Flatwater Free Press

  • Governor Pillen signed new emergency cannabis regulations that limit each cultivator to 1,250 flowering plants earlier this week — the rules aim to curb excessive production and reduce black-market supplies.  KFAB
  • The City of Omaha settled a second lawsuit with former police captain Katherine Belcastro-Gonzalez by agreeing to pay $500,000 in a legal settlement—she had sued last year alleging wrongful termination in retaliation after winning a discrimination suit, while Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said her firing was for poor performance.  WOWT
