- ➤ Child Saving Institute and Children’s Square USA have announced a merger that will expand support for children and families in Omaha. The combined organization will operate under the Child Saving Institute name at its new facility on Saddle Creek Road — Dodge Street, and services will remain uninterrupted. Grow Omaha
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ John Lewis of Leick Construction helped a boy jump from a burning house onto a trampoline in the Glenwood neighborhood—he convinced the child to make the jump and his team acted quickly to rescue him. WOWT
- ➤ On Tuesday morning, a crash on I-680 near 72nd Street left one person seriously injured — they were taken to a local hospital and officials have not determined a cause. KETV
- ➤ Last Monday night, Omaha firefighters put out a garage fire near 33rd and I Streets in about 25 minutes, causing roughly $62,000 in damages and no injuries—investigators are looking into the cause. KETV

- ➤ Spielcraft, an Omaha board game maker, is suing the federal government over tariffs on imports from China—tariffs that forced project cancellations—and Alex Wolf will lobby senators in Washington next week for relief as the appeal continues. WOWT

- ➤ Family and friends gathered for a prayer walk to remember Jonathan Wallace after he was fatally stabbed at a laundromat near 46th and Cuming—his funeral is scheduled for Sept. 19. KETV

- ➤ Omaha City Council approved ordinances Tuesday that created a Trap and Skeet Coordinator for the city's skeet park, allowed Police, Fire, and Human Resources to extend the mandatory retirement age to 68 for some employees, and provided a $1.4 million grant for six new drones in the police department—measures passed unanimously. - ➤ The Omaha Fire Department will hold a department-wide memorial observance for the 9/11 anniversary on Thursday morning, when firefighters will pause at 9:11 a.m.—standing in uniform and with engines lit—to honor those who were lost in 2001.
