  • La Vista-based Kros Strain Brewing Company partnered with Nebraska Athletics to launch Cornhusker Crusher as the official beer of the Huskers. The light citrus wheat ale will be available year-round at its La Vista & downtown Omaha taprooms and at Memorial Stadium during football games.  Grow Omaha

CRIME NEWS

  • Omaha police took two people in for questioning after a cutting seriously injured one person near 31st and Gold streets at 12:30 a.m. Thursday—officials have not released details on what led to the incident.  KETV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Grow Omaha launched Streetcar Topics—an update on the East Utilities Project that covers sewer, water and electrical work along the streetcar corridor. The project began at the 10th and Capitol Avenue intersection in early August and will continue with extra water main work on Farnam Street from early September due to weather delays.  Grow Omaha

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Nebraska Community Blood Bank held a blood drive at UNO’s Dodge Campus on Aug 27 to ease a local blood shortage—both walk-in and pre-scheduled donors gave blood at the Milo Bail Student Center ballroom during Durango Days. Students, staff and faculty donated to help boost supplies when hospital stocks had dropped to two days.  The Gateway

  • The Huskers defeated Cincinnati 20—17 at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday night to open Matt Rhule’s third season with their 99th season-opening win. Quarterback Dylan Raiola threw two touchdowns and passed for 243 yards in the close game.  KETV
