CRIME NEWS
- ➤ FBI Omaha and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested 15 sex offenders early Thursday in Omaha as part of Operation Summer Heat— a nationwide drive to enforce registration updates and remove dangerous offenders. WOWT
- ➤ Omaha police are searching for 71-year-old man Mitchell Davis who has dementia and was last seen around 9 a.m. near 25th and 27th on Evans street east of the 75 Freeway — he sometimes visits areas along Ames Street near 24th, 30th, and 42nd and residents should call 911 if they see him. WOWT
- ➤ Two Omaha hotels were shut down last Thursday after a human trafficking investigation, displacing residents who relied on them for secure housing — local outreach now helps with referrals and first month’s rent deposits. KETV
- ➤ Omaha police responded at 6:30 a.m. Thursday near North 48th and Taylor Street to a stabbing that seriously injured one person — officers are now searching for the suspect. KETV

- ➤ Omaha City Council approved several speed limit changes—lowering the limit from 45 mph to 40 mph on Q Street near Millard West High School, from 35 mph to 30 mph on 30th and 31st Streets, and from 40 mph to 35 mph on 108th Street. KETV
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Modular construction for four townhomes at Watson Place in North Omaha saw its front section placed on a vacant lot at 25th and Corby Streets on Aug 20th, with a crane lifting three more sections by Thursday; the units will be ready for walk-throughs in October and are listed for sale with two- and three-bedroom floor plans starting at $207,000. The project uses off-site construction to speed up a process that typically takes 12 to 18 months and addresses the local need for attainable housing. Omaha World-Herald
