COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Glenwood location of Russ’s Market is raising funds to help the family of shooting victims—neighbors and customers are invited to support the ongoing fundraiser.  WOWT
  • The Omaha Planning Board approved an amendment that lets the Kids Indoor Play Park at 14445 West Center Road expand by adding an 8,700 sq ft outdoor play area—this new space may include a refreshments bar and will be built on the southeast side of the building.  Grow Omaha

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Saturday morning, a large cottonwood tree fell on a truck at Two Rivers State Park in Waterloo—killing one woman and leaving a man critically injured who was trapped for 90 minutes before being taken to a hospital.  WOWT

  • Hy-Vee will offer one-hour online delivery 24 hours a day in Omaha by processing online orders from its warehouse at 5710 South 144th Street—a former Super Saver store—and using an unnamed vendor for store pickup after the Omaha Planning Board approved a permit amendment.  Grow Omaha

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A severe thunderstorm Saturday morning knocked down trees across the metro and left over 21,000 customers without power as crews worked to repair damage at Lancaster County Superfair and responders attended Branched Oak Lake — officials said repairs are ongoing.  WOWT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Saturday, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins met with Nebraska farmers and ranchers at a UNL center in Saunders County to hear their concerns about tariffs, trade, and high costs after a storm. Officials, including U.S. Sen. Deb Fischer, said federal help for crop pricing and farm labor was expected soon — local producers face tough times.  Nebraska Examiner
  • OPPD responded in full force after a storm knocked out power to nearly 40,000 customers early Saturday morning and restored service to 10,365 by mid-morning while over 25,000 remain without power as line crews and mutual aid teams work to complete repairs.  WOWT

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Lanoha Development announced today that it will preserve the 285-foot Mutual of Omaha building at 33rd & Dodge Street after the insurance giant moves downtown in 2026—its new plan includes a 44-story headquarters at 14th Farnam Street. CEO Jason Lanoha confirmed the current tower will be part of the redevelopment and kept as a historic landmark downtown.  Grow Omaha

SPORTS NEWS

  • Creighton volleyball held a Blue-White scrimmage Saturday in Omaha and introduced six new faces, including Ohio State transfer Eloise Brandewie who dominated at the net. Ava Martin returned for her senior year — Ana Maeder served an ace, Kiara Reinhardt blocked well, and Destiny Ndam-Simpson led Team White as they won three of four sets.  KETV
  • Coach Matt Rhule said two Nebraska players—defensive back Blye Hill and linebacker Gage Stenger—a Millard South grad—were ruled out for the season with knee injuries, and he praised punter Archie Wilson for his ability to kick with both feet. He also noted that the Huskers played at Arrowhead Stadium at 8 p.m. Saturday after a busy day of events.  KETV
