  • West Omaha welcomed its first all-inclusive playground on Sunday, where families enjoyed the accessible facility — local officials including Mayor John Ewing Jr. and Imagine Inclusion co-founders celebrated its opening. The project cost about $1.3 million — Imagine Inclusion contributed nearly $1 million after nearly seven years of fundraising.  KETV

  • Omaha police responded to a shooting today near 24th and Patrick streets and took three people to the hospital—one of them with life-threatening injuries.  WOWT

  • Omaha’s new Central Library will open next spring—city officials say the project is set to enhance local public services.  WOWT
  • In its July meeting, the Omaha Streetcar Authority approved change orders worth $245,099 with Hawkins Construction to modify water main and utility infrastructure at the Farnam and Harney Street Bridges as requested by MUD — the authority also reported that nearly $7.4 million was paid to CAF USA in June and over $15 million has been spent so far on a $47 million streetcar vehicle contract.  Grow Omaha

HEALTH NEWS

  • Roman Price, a father of five who recently welcomed a new baby, was diagnosed earlier this month with IgA nephropathy—an autoimmune disease that is causing his kidneys to fail; he remains in hospital on dialysis and may soon require a kidney transplant.
