  • A new inclusive playground has opened at Lake Zorinsky in West Omaha. The space was built by Imagine Inclusion with help from the city and private donors and offers ramps, a wheelchair merry-go-round, and swings for children with disabilities and families needing accessible play areas.  WOWT

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An explosion brought down a building in Fremont on Tuesday, leaving three people missing and streets blocked as emergency crews work to secure the area—neighbors remain shocked after witnessing the event.  KETV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A $65 million all-weather canopy was substantially completed on July 25—designed to keep travelers dry at Eppley Airfield—and LED lights can change colors for events like July 4. The airport's $950 million terminal expansion is 38% complete with a new Central Pavilion rising behind the terminal and work expected to continue into 2028.  Omaha World-Herald

  • The Douglas County Sheriff's Office’s Special Operations Group arrested a man with a felony warrant at a car wash Monday afternoon—he allegedly rammed a deputy’s car.  WOWT
  • A person was killed in a South Omaha stabbing—police said the victim has not yet been identified.  WOWT

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Union Pacific Railroad announced plans to merge with Norfolk Southern Railway to form the nation’s only transcontinental rail while keeping its headquarters in Omaha. Officials, including Mayor John Ewing, said the move will boost jobs and business in the city while the merger awaits federal approval—officials promised to maintain union jobs.  KETV
