  • Omaha residents gathered for a Juneteenth celebration that featured a parade, family fest with free food, and local vendors to honor Black emancipation. The event also marked the election of the city's first Black mayor, John Ewing Jr.—organizers say festivities will continue with the Juneteenth Joy Fest on June 21.  KETV
  • Federal immigration agents raided several Omaha food plants Tuesday morning and detained over 70 workers who were accused of using fake IDs, which sparked protests across the city. Local resident Asusena Hernandez joined the rally—saying the arrests brought back fears and past hurts for immigrant families.  The Gateway

  • Police said one person was hospitalized after a shooting near a North Omaha motorcycle club and are investigating the incident — more information is expected.  WOWT

  • MJ The Musical, based on the life and songs of Michael Jackson, is playing at the Orpheum Theatre with Jordan Markus playing MJ. The show is set during rehearsals for the 1992 Dangerous World Tour and runs through today (Sunday, June 15).  WOWT

  • The Military Avenue & Hamilton Street intersection is seeing new development as Papio NRD begins construction on a Beltline Trail entrance — the trail follows an abandoned railroad line through North Omaha to Adams Park with phase 4 set to complete by October. Across the street, plans will transform the long-vacant Johnson Sash and Door building into a mixed-use space with a bakery, coffee shop — and eight residential units.  Grow Omaha
