  • Stephanie Sullivan, assistant director at Food Bank for the Heartland, said in an interview that food insecurity increases in summer and the nonprofit uses a model—returning 96 cents of every dollar to help families, seniors, and veterans in Nebraska and western Iowa. The organization, which serves 93 counties, urged community members to donate or volunteer to ease hunger.  KIOS

  • A federal judge sentenced Michelle Lee Marr to 25 years in prison with a concurrent 20-year tampering sentence and five years of supervised release after a February jury in Omaha found her guilty of second-degree murder of J.G., who died in 2022 on the Winnebago Reservation with malice aforethought.  WOWT
