  • At Memorial Park, families gathered for a Memorial Day ceremony that honored fallen soldiers with skydivers delivering Old Glory and a U.S. Senator serving pancakes. Bill Williams and his Patriotic Productions organized the event to help children understand the true cost of our freedoms.  WOWT
  • North Omaha couple Kevin Reid and Connie have fostered over 250 children in three decades, starting with their first foster child who changed their minds about caring for others. They now work with Boys Town’s foster care program — recruiting more families to provide firm love and support to kids in need.  WOWT
  • Omaha communities held Memorial Day ceremonies to honor fallen service members and veterans with an event at the Omaha National Cemetery (open for visitations from sunrise to sunset) and a ceremony in Millard featuring a flyover, wreath laying, prayers, bagpipes and a ROTC performance.  KETV

CRIME NEWS

  • 18-year-old Samuel Guy was arrested on a $75,000 bond for unlawful possession of a firearm by a prohibited juvenile offender in connection to a firearms investigation following a deputy-involved shooting near 48th and Pratt—he is scheduled to appear in court on July 7.  KETV

HEALTH NEWS

  • On Friday, Creighton dental students provided free checkups—offering hygiene tips and custom mouth guards—to nearly 500 Special Olympics athletes in Omaha. The program, which is part of a global effort, helped address untreated tooth decay among participants.  WOWT
