A rollover crash near Aksarben early Sunday morning sent one person to the hospital in critical condition near 62nd and Center streets with officials still investigating the cause.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said that Sergeant Jessie Ronk, a 12-year veteran and Special Operations Group supervisor, was the deputy involved in a fatal North Omaha shooting that took place Thursday morning—he is now on administrative leave as investigators search for other suspects and witnesses.
Omaha police investigated four violent incidents over Saturday and Sunday—responding on Sunday to a stabbing at 23rd and Vinton that injured a 27-year-old man and on Saturday to shootings that injured a 19-year-old near 47th and Larimore and a 20-year-old near 144th and West Maple, along with a stabbing at 31st and Chicago that led to a 36-year-old woman's arrest.
Funeral services for 19-year-old Janidi Ibrahim were held Saturday at the Islamic Center in North Omaha after he was fatally shot by a deputy early Thursday near 48th and Pratt, and law enforcement agencies are investigating the shooting and have recovered two weapons from the SUV.
Friends and family gathered Saturday at the Islamic Center of Omaha for the funeral of Janidi — who was fatally shot in a deputy-involved incident in North Omaha.
