  • Hoagie's Hawaiian Ice in Gretna hosted its grand opening yesterday with shaved ice, face painting+ a balloon artist and prize drawings, drawing local families who have long awaited the summer season. Owner Jenna Friesen said the event brought the community together for a fun day.  KETV
  • Bennington's 30th annual car show drew a crowd on May 24 and raised funds for QLI to treat brain and spinal cord injuries while awarding scholarships to local high school students (from Bennington and Elkhorn).  KETV

  • The Nebraska State Patrol activated an Endangered Missing Advisory on Saturday night for Riley Dawn Stevenson, 18, an autistic Idaho woman last seen in Sidney, with unknown travel details plus authorities urge anyone with information to contact Middleton Police.  WOWT

  • The original tune for 'Wabash Cannonball' was written by a Rock Island freight agent (from Council Bluffs) when trains bearing the name reached Omaha, linking local rail history to a beloved folk song.  Omaha World-Herald

  • Former State Sen. Tom Brewer, a 36-year veteran, will start his ninth mission to Ukraine next week as he documents humanitarian aid, agricultural tours, and meetings with local officials to keep the forgotten war in focus.
