- ➤ Allegiant Travel Company announced eight new nonstop routes from Eppley Airfield, including flights to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International starting Oct. 2 and Gulf Shores kicking off this week. - ➤ Omaha leaders revealed plans to transform Malcolm X’s birth site with a $120M revamp including a 30,000 sqft cultural center and museum set to break ground mid-2027 near 35th and Evans. The project is partly funded by a $20M state grant + local capital efforts aimed at spurring economic growth. Nebraska Examiner

- ➤ Recent rains across Nebraska did not resolve drought concerns, and climatologists say multiple good rains and cooler temperatures will be needed to improve soil moisture. The UNL drought monitor is set to update Thursday morning to show changes in areas like the southern panhandle. WOWT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday, the Nebraska Public Service Commission approved a merger between Black Hills Corp. and NorthWestern Energy Group. The companies agreed to a moratorium on rate hikes until May 1, 2027 for NorthWestern and May 1, 2028 for Black Hills & will not pass merger costs to customers. WOWT
- ➤ Nebraska tax receipts fell 8.2% short of forecasts in April as higher-than-expected refunds contributed to a projected $129 million budget deficit for 2027 — lawmakers plan to review spending and tax policy adjustments. Nebraska Examiner
