CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Kenneth Beams, 40, and retired sergeant Christy Stevens, 58, faced felony child abuse charges Monday in a Douglas County court after police removed four minors safely from a home near 149th and Bauman—Beams is charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child plus four counts of child abuse and was denied bond while Stevens faces five counts with a $400,000 bond as both will appear in court on June 30. - ➤ A judge in Douglas County District Court ruled that Ladell Thornton is not responsible by reason of insanity for killing former Creighton baseball coach Chris Gradoville in 2021 at his rental property on Pratt Street—Thornton had faced charges for first-degree murder, using a firearm to commit a felony and illegal gun possession.
