ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 37-year-old man (Francisco Ramirez) died in a motorcycle crash near 204th and F streets around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday when a car turned in front of his path and 25-year-old Brockton Miller (from Elkhorn) was taken to the hospital with minor injuries while investigators said alcohol or drugs did not play a role. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Wah Say was sentenced to 80 to 107 years in prison after being found guilty on six counts including manslaughter for the shooting death of 27-year-old Taw Moo near Fontenelle Park in March 2024 (he received credit for 426 days served). KETV
- ➤ Mateo Timothy, who waived his preliminary hearing, is bound over to district court for trial on a first-degree murder charge for the alleged killing of 60-year-old Pedro Velasquez in Omaha—Velasquez was found with a gunshot wound while walking his dogs early in February. KETV
- ➤ 33-year-old Bismellah Mohammadi admitted to intentionally shooting his cousin during a Saturday private church event with about 100 people at Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church in Millard — he said a long-standing conflict and his cousin’s stare made him lose control as the shots grazed one person’s hand and injured his cousin. - ➤ Nebraska lawmakers approved a series of budget bills for the next two years on Monday that move the state closer to closing a projected deficit with $1.1 million to spare — a final vote on the bills will send them to Gov. Pillen on Thursday. The measures include changes to judicial salaries, domestic violence services, and housing funds, with the state shifting money through cash transfers and its rainy day fund to cover the gap. - ➤ Offutt Air Force Base opened its new security forces squadron campus Monday after recovering from the 2019 floods—covering over 93,000 square feet with state‑of‑the‑art training, operations, military working dog facilities and a firing range. - ➤ Today, Omaha residents head to the polls to elect mayor, city councilmembers and vote on a charter amendment regarding council seat vacancies.
