CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police investigated a shooting that injured a 32-year-old man Saturday morning near 42nd Street and Ames Avenue in North Omaha+ the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Nebraska Medicine in critical condition while one suspect was arrested after a foot pursuit and a second suspect remains at large. - ➤ FBI Special Agent Gene Kowel from the Omaha Field Office said criminals use explicit photos—real and fake—to demand money from their victims with cases quadrupling since 2019 and many offenders traced to West Africa and the Philippines. WOWT
- ➤ Police are investigating a stabbing in North Omaha that occurred Sunday around 1 p.m. near 46th and Cuming, injuring a woman who was taken to the hospital—her condition remains unclear. WOWT

- ➤ Attendees enjoyed the second weekend of the Renaissance Festival of Nebraska at Bellevue Berry Farm—costumed guests visited booths and entertainment while some vendors expressed concerns about tariffs limiting imported goods. - ➤ Creighton University announced plans to build a new quadrangle near 22nd and Burt streets that will replace the baseball and softball fields after the College World Series in June. The project will create a 251,500 square foot green space with an amphitheater, pavilion, stage, fountain plaza and ellipse, cost between $22-25 million from donors and is scheduled for completion in 2026.
