  • At Council Bluffs park, 113 corgis are racing as organizers aim to build on last year's $6000 raised for local rescues. The annual event brings together pet lovers and community supporters from the area.  WOWT

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Good Life Sports Bar & Grill plans to open at 1501 Mike Fahey Street in the Builders District with a three-season covered outdoor seating area. The bar is awaiting its liquor license and is set to launch its build-out in time for the College World Series.  Grow Omaha

CULTURE NEWS

  • Garden Party Omaha hosts a free Mother’s Day weekend music festival today from 2 to 11 p.m. at Sonny’s Askarben Village, featuring live music, food, and drinks while celebrating women and nonbinary songwriters. Founded by Madeline Reddel, the event includes nine acts (local talent).  KETV

  • Twelve Omaha students have been named to the Omaha World-Herald’s 2026 All Metro Academic Team+ they were selected for academic excellence in local schools. Their recognition highlights robust education programs that foster community talent.  Omaha World-Herald

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Work has started at the former Younker’s store in Westroads Mall as Dillard’s moves its Oak View Mall location once renovations finish in the second half of 2027. The project will gut the space, add a 32,000 sqft expansion and a new entrance to make a 207,800 sqft store over two stories.  Grow Omaha

SPORTS NEWS

  • Omaha's softball team lost 2 to 1 in the final game on Saturday in Minneapolis after winning their opener 10 to 1 — the NCAA Division I Softball Championship field will be announced today at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN2.  University of Nebraska Omaha
  • Millard North senior Colin Driffill threw a 98 mph fastball at a pro showcase in Kansas City — drawing interest from MLB scouts and boosting his commitment to Kansas State. He is focused on leading his team to win their first state title since 2005.  WOWT
  • Creighton softball defeated UConn 5-2 on Saturday in the Big East Tournament, forcing a second title game; the teams will meet again today at 4 p.m. to decide the championship.  KETV
  • Omaha baseball split a doubleheader against Oral Roberts on Saturday. Brody Sexton hit a late two-run homer to secure a 7-5 win in game two after a 4-3 loss in game one, and the teams will complete the series today at Chapman Ballpark at 1 p.m.  University of Nebraska Omaha
  • Nebraska Softball beat UCLA 7-2 at the 2026 Big Ten Tournament, earning its second championship and first title since 2022.  WOWT
