- ➤ A ceremony took place on Wednesday morning at the east parking lot of Creighton Prep in Omaha to rename a portion of Western Avenue between 72nd and 74th streets as Tessie O. Edwards Avenue (honoring her contributions to the school and local scholarship fund). WOWT
- ➤ Lake Cunningham Park in Omaha will begin a nearly $20 million renovation to add a year-round facility with restrooms, classroom space, concessions, a covered gathering area, a playground, and three fishing piers. Construction is set to start soon and finish by 2028. WOWT
- ➤ Omaha’s Old Market is getting a $37K makeover funded by private donations — new native aspen trees and over 400 plantings of grasses and flowers are soon enhancing Seven Circles on 11th and Howard as organizers plan to connect Riverfront Park with upcoming Polina Gardens. KETV

- ➤ Omaha is busy preparing for the annual Berkshire Hathaway weekend starting Friday at CHI Health Center as city crews and staff coordinate efforts and implement a clear bag policy for security. Some shareholders plan to line up as early as 2 a.m. to join the 40,000-person private event. KETV

- ➤ The OPS Board recognized two students in Nebraska Educators Rising at its meeting where community town halls were scheduled for early childhood funding discussions and updated curriculum and data protection guidelines were approved. - ➤ On April 22, the Nebraska Commission on African American Affairs heard presentations from the Malone Center about its $23.1M capital campaign with a May 6 ribbon cutting and from Freedomtainment Inc on a Juneteenth celebration downtown and at Miller Park, and the commission approved a $5,000 sponsorship. - ➤ Doctors warn Nebraskans that warmer weather and extra moisture are creating ideal tick conditions, with a rise in ER visits for bites; they advise residents to cover up and check for ticks carefully after outdoor activities (especially in wooded or tall grass areas). WOWT
