- ➤ An Omaha senior in hospice care lost a court battle over a $2,100 lawn care bill two years ago and now his son Chip has raised nearly $4,500 through a GoFundMe campaign to pay off the judgment and assist with his medical bills — a new lawn service now cares for his yard for $280 per season. - ➤ Omaha Police detectives arrested 31-year-old Abdulmalek Nagi last Thursday at a suspected illegal THC warehouse at 4891 F Street and seized thousands of Delta-9 vape pens, waxes, candies, marijuana, Khat, psychedelic mushrooms and cash—evidence of a large-scale illegal distribution operation. - ➤ Nebraska lawmakers will hold three public forums to update voters on medical marijuana legislation and gather opinions after a bill to legalize it stalled in committee. The meetings are scheduled for May 3 at Carpenter's Union Hall in La Vista, May 4 at UNO Thompson Center in Omaha, and May 5 at Southeast Community College in Lincoln. WOWT
- ➤ Early voting ballots for the City of Omaha election were mailed Monday to about 57,000 voters in Kraft envelopes—applications are being processed until Friday—and in-person voting began at the Douglas County Election Commission Office at 12220 W Center Rd from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Voter registration is accepted until Friday and the general election will be held on May 13. - ➤ Two Omaha World War II veterans, Donald McWhirter and Les Rygg, were honored on Monday at Immanuel's Arboretum Village with recognition medals from an initiative by Gov. Jim Pillen and the Department of Veteran Affairs. They received the awards as part of efforts to honor those who served during the war. KETV
