ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An Omaha family confirmed that the body recovered from Missouri River near N.P. Dodge Park at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, identified as 18-year-old Lah K Tray Moo, is one of three people missing after a fishing outing on April 15—search authorities will continue to look for the other two missing youths.  Omaha World-Herald
  • A vehicle crash on I-80 near 24th St. sent one person to the hospital in critical condition a little before 8 a.m. Sunday morning — two lanes remain blocked as investigators work at the scene and drivers face delays.  KETV

  • Omaha-based HDR was ranked as the number-6 top design firm in annual rankings by Engineering News-Record—marking its 11th consecutive year in the Top 10—and reported 2024 design revenue of $3.4 billion.  Grow Omaha

  • Omaha police are searching for a walk-in shooting victim after a shots-fired call came in a little before 1 a.m. Sunday near 30th and Pinkney St; investigators found shell casings and no arrests were made.  KETV

  • Omaha’s Archdiocese honored Archbishop George Lucas today at Saint Cecilia Cathedral at 10:30 a.m.—he will retire in May as canon law requires retirement at age 75. The archdiocese introduced his successor, Archbishop Michael McGovern from Belleville, Illinois, last month.  KETV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Nebraska Game and Parks spent over $22 million from January 2024 through March 2025 upgrading state parks with new electrical outlets, ADA-compliant facilities, and improved campsites ahead of Free Fishing and Park Entry Day on May 17—visitors can enjoy better fishing access, renovated lodge amenities, and safer, modernized park infrastructure. These upgrades support improved camping, fishing, and outdoor activities for all Nebraska residents.  Omaha World-Herald

  • A new era began for Nebraska volleyball Saturday night when new head coach Dani Busboom Kelly led the Huskers to a four-set sweep against Kansas — scores were 25—20, 25—18, 25—21, and 25—22 — with key plays from Andi Jackson, Rebekah Allick, and freshman Ryan Hunter before a sell-out crowd of 8,592 at Bob Devaney Sports Center.  KETV
  • Ally Batenhorst hit a franchise-best .667 as she led the Supernovas to a 3-0 sweep over Las Vegas Thrill with scores of 25-20, 25-16, and 25-23 on Sunday at CHI Health Center. The win moved Omaha closer to the top seed in the PVF Championship with a team-high 10 kills and five aces — drawing a crowd of 11,204.  WOWT
