- ➤ KETV is partnering with the Santa Monica House on Giving Wednesday to support women overcoming addiction with a program that offers long-term structured care and essential services. The recovery center, which has helped 140 women a year for 53 years and now faces rising referrals, needs more donations—these contributions will provide the basic supplies required for recovery. - ➤ Omaha will host a free Memorial Park concert on June 27 featuring Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band with Mike Campbell and the Dirty Knobs— the event will begin with the National Anthem at 6:30 p.m. and finish around 10 p.m., and city officials said this concert will bring the community together for a family-friendly evening. - ➤ Omaha police arrested Timothy Ford for first-degree sexual assault, sex offender registry violation, and cocaine possession after reexamining a cold case from April 2020 using DNA evidence from a September 2021 lab report—Ford admitted to having cocaine while saying he did not know the victim. - ➤ Gov. Pillen signed an executive order on Wednesday to suspend all burn permits due to extremely dry conditions — and he also issued emergency declarations to help fight the Plum Creek Fire and manage drought conditions. The fire has burned 6,631 acres, killed 45 cattle, destroyed one structure and eight power poles, and over 50 volunteer fire departments have responded. WOWT

- ➤ Omaha drivers face delays as the I-80 project, which began Tuesday April 22 and reduced westbound lanes from Q Street to Giles Road while adding a lane at the 144th Street exit and scheduling repairs on bridges over Harry Anderson Avenue and Giles Road, is set to continue until Halloween—completion is scheduled for Oct 31. Construction in Little Bohemia restricts lanes on 13th Street between Center and Hickory and between William and Pine while shifting southbound 24th traffic between Martha and Castelar to the center lane for street repairs. - ➤ Metro Transit is testing its new Microtransit program as Omaha builds more roads to improve service in areas with limited transit — a pilot will cover North, South and West Omaha. Riders may request a pickup from designated zones — vans will take them directly to bus stops or specific destinations. KETV
- ➤ Nebraska’s Committee on Pacific Conflict warned that our farms, factories and power grids face threats from China but did not reveal details—lawmakers say secrecy helps protect sensitive information.
