  • Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo said goodbye to Mashile — a nearly 40-year-old white rhino admired for 27 years — after age-related health issues led to her humane euthanasia last week.  KETV

  • Visit Omaha’s national sales manager attended Connect Spring Marketplace held April 14 to 16 in Louisville, Kentucky and conducted 35 individual meetings among 2,500 attendees including 800 hosted buyers. The outreach aims to drive future business competition and bolster local visitor spending that supports over 16,000 jobs.  Grow Omaha
  • Eaton is set to expand its Bellevue facility with a new 370,000 sqft plant as a $30 million investment that will add more than 200 jobs and boost Greater Omaha's advanced manufacturing sector.  Grow Omaha

  • Today, the Rose Theater hosted the world premiere of The Great Race, a new play developed through its Sharing Our Stories program that highlights underrepresented voices in Omaha. The play weaves a tale of friendship inspired by the Chinese zodiac.  WOWT
  • Eugene Kingman’s mural is now on display at the new Omaha Central Library, offering a vivid piece for community visitors to enjoy.  Omaha World-Herald
  • The NE SciFest Expo is taking place at the Durham Museum, where visitors can explore LEGO recreations of local landmarks and build their own models at the Get Building Bricks exhibit. This event offers an interactive experience for the community.  WOWT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Registrar Office completed its full rollout of the Stellic digital degree management tool on Jan. 27 after a phased pilot beginning with fall 2025 freshmen. The new system replaces outdated DegreeWorks and streamlines academic planning for students and advisors.  The Gateway
  • On Tuesday morning at the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center, students at the University of Nebraska Omaha learned how to contact local officials as part of the Engaged and Empowered series by Civic Nebraska & the Nebraska Table, which also awards digital tokens for civic participation.  The Gateway

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Henry Doorly Zoo announced that 17-year-old snow leopard Pasha (diagnosed with a malignant tumor and severe respiratory issues) was humanely euthanized; the zoo now mourns the loss of this vulnerable species.  WOWT

SPORTS NEWS

  • The University of Nebraska at Omaha Curling Club made its national debut at Nationals in Schenectady, reaching the quarterfinals by winning two of three games during spring break. Founded three years ago and practicing on multi-use ice at Baxter Arena, the team now offers try-curling events to boost local interest.  University of Nebraska Omaha
  • The 45th Annual Corporate Cup will take place in Aksarben Village soon and features a 10K, 5K, 5K walk, 1-mile route and a kids 100-yard dash.  WOWT
