ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Authorities are broadening the search for three girls missing after fishing near N.P. Dodge Park on Tuesday as rescuers extend efforts from Bellevue to downtown Omaha, with police reporting that two of the missing girls are 18 and one is 11 after the current swept them downstream and a pair of shoes believed to belong to one was found downriver. - ➤ A 42-year-old motorcycle rider died after trying to avoid a Subaru that entered the red-light intersection at 77th Avenue and L Street on Monday evening—CPR was given until paramedics arrived and he was taken to the hospital on Tuesday—and police are pending charges against the Subaru driver. - ➤ On Sunday, April 13, a shooting at Florence Tower in North Omaha killed 45-year-old Eric Bechtolt when suspect Billy Dorrall fired shots at him and then exchanged fire with police. He appeared in court on Wednesday and faced charges for first-degree murder, attempted murder and weapons violations—officers said he shot at them, injuring one while police recovered handguns and ammo from the scene.
