ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Omaha Fire Department responded to a house fire shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of 49th and Maple streets—crews extinguished the blaze in 10 minutes while the home was unoccupied—and the cause remains under investigation.  WOWT
  • Omaha police are investigating a crash in north Omaha after a vehicle struck a pedestrian near Storz Expressway and Sorensen Parkway around 9 p.m.—the injured person is in critical condition at a hospital.  KETV
  • Three girls remain missing in the Missouri River after a fishing trip near NP Dodge Park in Omaha, with rescue crews pausing their search Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and set to resume today at 8 a.m.—officials say teams are using sonar and drones to scan the river's dangerous currents and debris.  KETV
  • Rescue crews in Omaha have shifted into recovery mode at N.P. Dodge Park after two 18-year-olds and an 11-year-old went missing in the Missouri River on Tuesday evening (the teens entered the water around 6 p.m.) and are searching south toward the I-680 bridge as they plan to broaden the search in coming days (a 13-year-old was rescued and is in stable condition).  KFAB

  • Omaha business owner and state senator Megan Hunt received a $1,108 tariff bill for a shipment of products from Japan that was taxed at a 25+ percent rate, far above the usual $70 to $100 fee. She said she will not pass this cost onto customers and plans to sell more to cover the added expense.  KETV

  • Omaha Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 reward for tips on two shooting cases—one on October 8 when a woman was shot in her parked car near 49th and Taylor and another on January 30 when a man was shot on his bicycle near Levi Carter Park—as both cases remain open and the suspects are still at large.  KETV
  • A man charged with murder at Florence Tower in Omaha was denied bond in court Wednesday.  WOWT
