ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A driver hit a pedestrian near 10th—Cuming in east Omaha late Sunday night around 11 p.m., seriously injuring the person and leaving police with no word on a citation.  KETV

CRIME NEWS

  • Omaha police said 50-year-old Billy Dorrall is accused of shooting and killing Eric Bechtolt during a disturbance at Florence Tower on Sunday—officers exchanged gunfire with him, one officer was injured, and Dorrall was hospitalized while investigators work with the Douglas County Attorney's Office to confirm further details.  KETV
  • An Omaha jury found Latrail Washington and Kash Davis guilty of first-degree murder and a firearm felony in the killing of 15-year-old Synthia Elliott (shot at home on November 30 near 37th and Pinkney) and both now face life in prison.  KETV
  • An Omaha Public Schools music teacher, Juan Carlos Oropeza-Perez, 23, is accused of sharing his ex-girlfriend’s nude photos on social media in exchange for explicit content—he has been charged with five misdemeanor counts and placed on administrative leave at Omaha Central High School.  WOWT

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Omaha residents can pick up free double-ground mulch re-purposed from storm debris at Al Veys Park from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until April 26 — unused mulch will be traded with local nurseries to replant trees.  KETV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Nebraska State Patrol said that in the first 100 days of 2025 it issued over 300 citations for drivers going over 100 mph—about 30 more than in 2024 and 52% higher than the 10-year average, with roads remaining under close watch for safety.  WOWT
