ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ One person is seriously injured after exposure to cold in north Omaha on Tuesday morning near 32nd and Lake streets and emergency crews responded at 4:00 a.m. while meteorologist Sean Everson said the temperature was 28 degrees. KETV
- ➤ Two people were displaced Tuesday morning near 78th and Grover when fire crews responded to a house that became unsafe from heavy smoke and fire caused by improperly disposed smoking materials (no injuries were reported) as the Red Cross helped arrange temporary shelter. KETV
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Mutual Of Omaha is building a new headquarters in downtown Omaha. The 44-story tower will be 677 feet tall with 800,000 square feet of space and is getting glass panels on the east side—when finished, it will be the tallest building in the region. KFAB
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Douglas County Sheriff's Office assisted with one of the largest carfentanil seizures in the United States, seizing 30 pounds of the drug, including 24 pounds in facsimile M-30 pills meant to mimic prescription oxycodone, after officials uncovered a coordinated smuggling effort into Omaha that began in November 2024. - ➤ A 27-year-old Nebraska man, Breighton Miller, was shot dead by Montana troopers on April 3 after he planted a faulty bomb outside Tecumseh prison and fired at officers when they tried to stop his vehicle. WOWT
- ➤ The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is investigating a check fraud ring that stole more than 53000 dollars from over 24 customer accounts at FNBO during a four-month period ending in March and made two additional arrests Tuesday. KFAB
- ➤ William Collins, accused of killing 71-year-old Linda Childers with a crossbow in 2023, filed an appeal after a judge denied his motion to dismiss the case—his defense argued that the state did not follow proper speedy trial rules when the deadline expired in July. KETV
