BUSINESS NEWS

  • Midwest Laboratories will begin constructing a campus tomorrow at the former InfoGroup building near East 1st Street & American Parkway in Papillion. The new 120,000 sqft facility, which includes an animal nutrition lab and space for 85 employees, is slated to open in 2027.  Grow Omaha

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Office of Student Leadership and Involvement has introduced a policy that will prevent the Women and Gender Equity Center from providing emergency contraceptives (Plan B) starting July 1; the measure aims to protect student health and comply with regulatory standards while raising concerns on campus.  The Gateway

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Two firefighters (among the first to respond) said that strong winds and rugged canyon terrain hindered access and affected communication efforts at the Cottonwood Fire yesterday.  WOWT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • I-480 will be closed this weekend for Farnam Bridge reconstruction starting Friday at 9 p.m. Drivers are advised to use Harney and 24th Streets as alternate routes because northbound lanes will reopen around noon Sunday and all lanes will return by 6 a.m. Monday.  KETV

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Omaha Supernovas parted ways with head coach Luka Slabe and named assistant Thomas Robson interim coach on Tuesday. Robson (with a contract through 2028) will lead the 11-11 team at Kiewit Court on Friday as they aim for the MLV Championship.  KETV
  • The Nebraska men's basketball team capped a historic season with a 28-7 record and a No. 14 finish in the final AP poll after reaching the NCAA Sweet 16 (the best in school history). Head coach Fred Hoiberg was named National Coach of the Year on April 3.  WOWT
  • The Omaha Supernovas relieved head coach Luka Slabe Tuesday & named Thomas Robson as interim head coach for the rest of the season while coach Blake Rawlins remains on staff and Robson signed an extension to continue as assistant after the season.  WOWT
  • Two Creighton men's basketball players entered the transfer portal as Ty Davis announced his departure on Tuesday morning and Owen Freeman is set to transfer after averaging 5.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in his junior season. The move marks a change following one season with the Jays.  KETV
