  • Omaha Midtown neighbors are circulating a petition for a parks facility at the Walnut Hill Reservoir site. The petition is active in six neighborhoods as residents push for improved outdoor recreation space.  WOWT
  • ReConnect — a program in Omaha offering reentry services to adults leaving Douglas County Corrections and aiming to keep kids out of incarceration through resource fairs — connects residents with education, health, career, and housing support. The initiative, started nearly three years ago, partners with over 30 local providers.  WOWT

  • Nebraska legislators are considering a bill to expand NEST 529 savings accounts so parents can use funds for trade schools, apprenticeships, and extra postsecondary costs. If passed today, it will bring new options to families with trade school coverage starting this summer and qualified expenses available from January 2029.  WOWT

  • Preconstruction has begun on a downtown stretch as city crews prepare for vital infrastructure improvements. The project will support local business + pedestrian safety and is set to advance with more details in the coming days.  WOWT
