  • Crews working on the streetcar will soon lay tracks in midtown and downtown as they finish welding large sections (key to a smooth start). The project (aimed at boosting local transit) points to improved connectivity across neighborhoods.  Omaha World-Herald

  • Marble Technologies, a fast growing agtech startup from Lincoln, will open a new office in Omaha’s Millwork Commons District. The firm plans to occupy a 7,400 sqft space at 1111 North 13th Street in the Mastercraft Building — an early anchor in a district home to over 60 local businesses.  Grow Omaha

CULTURE NEWS

  • Award-winning filmmaker and UNO alumnus Dave Manoucheri screened his documentary Always Remember Your Name at the Thompson Alumni Center on March 12; the film tells the story of Italian Jewish sisters who survived Auschwitz & featured a Q&A with survivor Andra Bucci.  The Gateway
  • Nominees for the 2026 James Beard Awards were announced this week, spotlighting top restaurants and chefs nationwide with winners to be revealed on June 15 in Chicago. Omaha chef David Utterback + his team is among those recognized.  KETV
  • Ghostbusters in Concert will feature a live orchestra playing the 1984 classic at the Orpheum Theater on Oct. 6 — tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.  KETV

HEALTH NEWS

  • A CHI Health expert explained that wind, dry air — and wildfire smoke are worsening spring allergies in Nebraska today. Bridget Cornell advised families to keep windows shut and bathe daily to reduce symptoms.  KETV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Omaha Softball right-handed pitcher Alexis Wiggins earned Summit League Pitcher of the Week after pitching eight shutout innings to sweep Kansas City last weekend. The senior improved her 10-1 season record by allowing only three hits in 28 batters faced during the three-game series.  University of Nebraska Omaha
  • The Omaha softball team is headed on the road— they will face North Dakota Fighting Hawks at Albrecht Field with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. CT Sunday and a single game at noon Monday. The Mavericks hold a top ranking and carry an eight-game win streak.  University of Nebraska Omaha
  • Central HS is set to have new stadiums for softball and baseball; revenue from the facility will benefit Omaha Public Schools. The upgrades are expected to support local athletic programs in coming months.  WOWT
