- ➤ Anastasis Theatre will debut its play By a Thread at the Jewish Community Center in Omaha on March 29—30, spotlighting the real-life experiences of formerly incarcerated women including reform advocate Christy Farlee. Local playwright Kim Louise crafted the production after extensive research to draw attention to prison reform, and post-performance talks will invite the public to ask questions. - ➤ On March 19, a blizzard left nearly 82,000 customers without power in Omaha and Council Bluffs as high winds toppled utility poles and made roads unsafe, prompting utility crews to work around the clock in difficult conditions (crews noted poor visibility and heavy snow). The storm also forced school closures, flight cancellations, and road and transit delays while West Dodge reopened after being closed earlier. WOWT

- ➤ A legislative proposal, LB237, to remove the 10,000-population cap for full mail voting was discussed Wednesday afternoon at a hearing, with Sen. Machaela Cavanaugh saying it could lower costs and boost turnout. County officials and conservative senators raised questions about election integrity, and the committee will decide if the bill advances although it is unlikely to reach the floor this session. - ➤ Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert claimed at a recent campaign event that roads have fewer potholes now because 1,000 of the 5,000 lane miles were repaired since voters approved a $200 million bond in May 2020—she said her goal is to resurface every lane mile in 20 years. 3 News Now
