- ➤ Hotel president Kirt Trivedi said his downtown Omaha hotels face daily safety issues when a homeless man exposed himself to guests, break-ins occur and a knife fight happened in a lobby + he said local shelters must upgrade security to protect visitors + his companies have seen insurance premiums double. - ➤ A Starbucks Coffee restaurant is under construction on the southeast corner of 96th & L Street, where a former bank building was demolished. The new free-standing building with a drive-thru sits just west of Romeo’s restaurant. Grow Omaha

- ➤ At the Capitol, a state senator introduced LB 552 to ban DEI programs at colleges and cut public funding while LB 551 would remove regents’ authority to grant tenure. University President Dr. Jeffrey Gold said the moves hurt Nebraska's Big 10 standing and AAU prospects—students and faculty strongly opposed the proposals during committee hearings. KETV

- ➤ Nebraska caregivers and the Nebraska Hospital Association rallied at the State Capitol on Monday to urge the state’s congressional delegation to oppose proposed federal cuts that would reduce Medicaid funding for rural health services. The cuts risk closing rural hospitals already operating at a loss — Medicaid covers a third of births, 43% of behavioral health services, and 44% of kids services — and may leave vulnerable citizens without essential care.
