  • AAA is offering free rides + vehicle towing to drivers who may have overindulged on St. Patrick’s Day starting tonight at 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. Wednesday within a ten-mile radius; the free service is available to both members and non-members in Nebraska and other states.  KFAB
  • Omaha's St. Patrick's Day parade drew large crowds downtown + business owners near streetcar construction picketed to raise awareness of their concerns, and the chair of the Omaha Streetcar Impact Alliance said a meeting with the mayor is scheduled for Wednesday to address the issue.  3 News Now

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Omaha Fire has deployed a crew and equipment to help fight wildfires across Nebraska today as part of the state’s emergency response. Local authorities expect further coordination with regional agencies as the situation develops.  WOWT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Omaha Fire Department deployed eight firefighters + three fire vehicles at 5:00 a.m. Sunday to Keith County to help combat the Cottonwood and Morrill fires burning in western Nebraska; crews are set to remain for seven days with costs covered by the Governor’s Emergency Fund.  WOWT

  • The Mutual of Omaha Tower nears its final height in Omaha as its gym, dining floor and sky lobby (a special area) take shape. Workers plan to add more finishing touches soon.  Omaha World-Herald
  • David Levy of Baird Holm explained the Omaha streetcar financing plan (using tax-increment financing) and noted that private investment is expected to boost the route while vertical construction begins at Crossroads; he also previewed plans for a Union Omaha soccer stadium district in north downtown.  Grow Omaha
