- ➤ A judge set a $10,000 bond for 51-year-old Anita Hernandez — charged with second-degree murder for fatally stabbing a woman near 7th and Bancroft last Wednesday — and she is set to appear in court on April 21 — police have not released the victim’s name —. KETV

- ➤ University of Nebraska-Omaha is under investigation by the U.S. Department of Education for keeping DEI practices in its graduate programs after it closed its diversity office before the Feb. 28 deadline+ the probe lists 45 universities facing similar issues where federal funding is at risk+ officials plan further evaluation of civil rights standards in education. - ➤ The University of Nebraska Omaha’s TRAC program teaches over 31 college-level courses to 350 inmates at the Omaha Correctional Center. - ➤ Offutt Air Force Base is opening a new Logistics Readiness Squadron campus nearly six years after 2019 floods destroyed 1.2 million square feet of workspace. The 26,575 square-foot facility is one of eight planned campuses and improves logistical coordination—its construction took five years and faced setbacks such as a July 2024 windstorm—boosting mission support at the base.
