- ➤ The Omaha Police Department reports that in 2024 violent crime dropped below 2,000 and total crime fell under 18,000 with homicides at 19—the lowest in 35 years—with emergency calls now answered in under 12 minutes. KETV
- ➤ Omaha Police say they took a suspect into custody after a chase ended at a home near 36th Avenue and O Street at about 2 a.m. Thursday (OPD confirmed the incident). WOWT
- ➤ Omaha police arrested a 51-year-old woman after officers found a 46-year-old fatally stabbed near 7th and Bancroft, and she now faces charges of second-degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony. KFAB
- ➤ Robert Allen Davis, 61, of Council Bluffs, was arrested Monday, March 10, 2025, on a first-degree murder charge in connection with the May 1989 disappearance of his then-girlfriend Barbara Lenz from her Woodbine apartment (her body has not been found), and her family, including her daughter in Omaha, hopes this arrest will lead to finding her remains and bringing justice. - ➤ Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium is offering a new membership deal until March 30, 2025—new or existing members can save up to $20 and add 12 months to their membership. The deal includes benefits such as unlimited zoo visits, free admission to the Lozier Giant Screen Theater, monthly member appreciation days, and discounts on classes, camps and events. KETV

- ➤ Omaha is in its second year of the Vision Zero plan which aims to end traffic deaths with projects such as pedestrian islands and traffic signal changes—after record fatal crashes in 2024. The plan was approved by City Council and now works with Omaha Public Schools to develop safe routes to school. The Omaha News
- ➤ The Omaha metro area has grown past one million residents from mid-2023 to mid-2024, driven mainly by international migration, according to new Census estimates. County data show that 48 of Nebraska’s counties gained people and Douglas County added 5,307 foreign-born residents—underscoring growth in both urban and rural areas. Nebraska Examiner
