- ➤ Construction continues on the new central pavilion at Eppley Terminal as part of a $1 billion expansion that will nearly double the airport's size and add a TSA checkpoint, food court, and shops. The project will serve over 5.2 million passengers annually (growing from 375,000 sqft to approximately 646,000 sqft). Grow Omaha

- ➤ Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue will host an air show on Aug. 8 and Aug. 9 to celebrate 250 years of American independence. The free event offers local residents a chance to see historic flight displays — a patriotic community gathering. Omaha World-Herald
- ➤ The 20th Annual Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards is set for Sunday, Feb. 15 at The Admiral Theater at 13th and Martha with performances by artists in theater, music, and visual arts. - ➤ At its February meeting, the UNO Board of Regents honored Event Coordinator Casey Wells with a Kudos Award for her commitment to student success, community engagement, and the Maverick Spirit. - ➤ Omaha Public Works is ramping up streetcar track work this week in six new work zones that will result in closures on key streets in downtown and midtown. Detours are planned to maintain access for residents and businesses—with some closures lasting one to three months. KETV
- ➤ Neighbors south of Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery urge licensing rules for short-term rentals after a suspected overdose death last week. Councilman Ron Hug said a regulation — modeled after Lincoln’s system — will be considered by city council in months and a safety meeting is set for Wednesday at 7 p.m. WOWT

- ➤ Nebraska DHHS reported that vaccination rates among seventh graders dropped in December, raising concerns among local health experts about a potential spike in measles and other outbreaks. - ➤ The Omaha Planning Board approved TIF for the Union Omaha soccer stadium project, letting the city sign a purchase agreement with Union Pacific for $18.7 million on a site north of 11th and Cuming.
